Camp Bijar is located in the heart of a centuries-old pine forest on the island of Cres in Croatia, despite administratively belonging to the island of Lošinj. The camp is situated in the immediate vicinity of the ancient town of Osor, often referred to as the museum town because of its numerous sculptures and cultural monuments. Osor lived its glory days back in ancient times when it was known as the most important port in this part of the Adriatic.

An intimate atmosphere for a family camping holiday

Camp Bijar’s long tradition began way back in 1958 when a French group established the first camp in Osor.

The plots at campsite Bijar are situated on mild slopes facing west towards the sea and set in a centuries-old pine forest are ideal for accommodating smaller camping trailers and tents. During the day they provide a wonderful sea view whilst in the evenings they offer picturesque sunset views.

The campsite’s small size and fun sports facilities make it a perfect holiday destination for families with children.

An oasis for sports enthusiasts

Osor is known as a paradise for boating activities as well as being an excellent starting point for hikes and bike trips on tracks running along the shore. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the camp, especially canoeists and windsurfers because the camp is a popular destination for these kinds of sports. Other available sports include beach volley, basketball and table tennis. Those more daring will certainly relish the challenge of climbing to the Televrin peak at an elevation of 588 meters on Osoršćica, a hill above Osor providing unique and magnificent views of the entire island of Cres, the Lošinj Archipelago and other nearby islands and the mainland. Food lovers who enjoy eating in the wild will find a useful coal briquette barbecue to enjoy their meals in select company.

Summertime brings the Osor Musical Evenings - classical music concerts that music lovers should not miss, whilst camping in the autumn, has its advanges too. The camp has several rocky beaches and there is a picturesque pebbly bay 50 meters from the camp, partialy stretching along an archeologically protected bay and further along from the camp’s shoreline.

Beside the many cultural landmarks in Osor, the moving bridge connecting the islands of Cres and Lošinj is an additional attraction.
